NorthPeak Cryo is a Colorado-based manufacturer founded in 2011 by Jake Merritt — a former NCAA Division I head athletic trainer — and Ryan Olsen, a mechanical engineer with a decade at Carrier designing commercial HVAC systems. They met while retrofitting recovery rooms for a Colorado university athletic programme and kept running into the same problem: expensive cryotherapy chambers that broke down mid-season.
Their answer was AlpineCore™, a hermetically sealed dual-stage compressor platform adapted from commercial refrigeration — where sealed systems run for a decade without a service call. No field-serviceable refrigerant circuits. No annual recharging. No slow-leak performance decay.
Their first product, the Summit One, is designed in Boulder and assembled in Fort Collins, Colorado. The compressor units come from a German manufacturing partner with engineering roots dating back to 1988. Every Summit unit leaves the factory after a 72-hour thermal stress test.
NorthPeak is a newer entrant in the market, but their engineering-first approach and sealed-system reliability set them apart from competitors relying on field-serviceable refrigerant circuits.
